Police respond after foreign man causes disturbance in Phuket neighborhood
Police were called after a shirtless foreign man allegedly shouted, climbed fences and refused to leave outside a Phuket home before a second disturbance in Chalong’s Soi Ta-ied area.
Police were called after a foreign man was found loitering, shouting and refusing to leave outside a private home in Phuket, according to the Phuket Express.
The incident, which was widely shared on social media, involved a shirtless man who was also linked by police to earlier disturbances at local convenience stores and later to another public nuisance in Chalong’s Soi Ta-ied Muay Thai area.
A Facebook user, Kim-Kat Kapyatorn, posted video clips and photos showing the man sitting at the entrance of her home. According to her account, he banged on the door, moved around the property and appeared to reach for items left outside. She said the family felt unsafe and called authorities after repeated requests for him to leave failed.
Police officers went to the scene to assess the situation. Reports said staff at a nearby convenience store had earlier alerted authorities after the same man caused problems in the area.
Witnesses described the man as shirtless, climbing fences, shouting and allegedly trying to enter homes. The behavior prompted speculation from witnesses that he might have been under the influence of drugs or alcohol, but police had not released an official statement on his condition.
The next day, Chalong police were called to Soi Ta-ied, described in the source as a famous Muay Thai area, where the same man again caused a public nuisance.
As of the report, police had not released the man’s identity or the outcome of their intervention. The incident has drawn public concern online about safety in tourist-heavy areas of Phuket.
