Police seek foreign rider after alleged Rawai assault

Chalong Police are working to identify and locate a foreign man accused of assaulting an Australian couple after allegedly knocking over their motorcycle in Rawai.

The incident occurred on Sunday (July 13), according to police. Robert Charles Pollock, 46, told investigators that he had parked his Honda ADV motorcycle outside a 7-Eleven store at Rawai Beach when another foreign man allegedly backed his motorcycle into it, causing it to fall and sustain damage.

Pollock said he tried to discuss compensation with the rider, but the man left the scene. Pollock followed him to a shop in Moo 6, near the main intersection at the southern end of the Rawai beach road, where he again attempted to resolve the matter.

According to the police complaint, the suspect became angry, pushed Pollock to the ground and punched him several times, causing injuries. Pollock’s wife, Kylie Jane Pollock, allegedly suffered a slap to the face when she tried to intervene.

The couple later filed a complaint at Chalong Police Station seeking legal action. Police said the suspect’s name, nationality and other personal details have not yet been confirmed. Investigators are trying to identify and locate him for questioning and possible prosecution.

The case came to public attention after Facebook user Ball Worawit Chumthong posted CCTV footage and photographs of the alleged attacker on Tuesday (July 14). The post claimed that the man had rented a red Yamaha NMAX motorcycle before the incident, later returned it to the rental shop, refused to pay for the damage and fled after the alleged assaults.

The post also called on airport authorities and the public to watch for the man in case he attempted to leave the country.
