Police seize meth and gun from car at Phuket checkpoint
A 31-year-old Phuket resident was arrested after officers found crystal meth, methamphetamine pills and a revolver hidden in a car door panel.
Police arrested a 31-year-old Phuket resident at a checkpoint after finding crystal meth, methamphetamine pills and a .38-calibre revolver hidden inside a car door panel.
The arrest was made at about 12:20am by officers from Tha Chatchai Police Station and the Phuket Checkpoint, under the direction of Tha Chatchai Police Superintendent Pol. Col. Khundech Na Nongkhai, according to the report.
The suspect was identified as Thanyaphisin Saengphol, a resident of Wichit. Officers found 4.603 grams of crystal meth, including packaging, 13 methamphetamine pills, a Smith & Wesson .38-calibre revolver, 11 rounds of .38-calibre ammunition and a mobile phone.
Thanyaphisin was charged with possession of Category 1 narcotics, including methamphetamine pills and crystal meth; illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition for which a licence cannot be issued; and carrying a firearm and ammunition in a public place without reasonable cause.
He was handed over to investigators at Tha Chatchai Police Station for legal proceedings.
