PPAO allocates B9.6 million for Patong Hospital medical equipment

The Phuket Provincial Administrative Organisation (PPAO) has allocated B9.6 million for medical equipment for Patong Hospital, with the equipment received at a ceremony on Friday, 21 August.

PPAO President Rewat Areerob presided over the handover, while Acting Hospital Director Dr Sunanta Khajornrungruang received the equipment.

According to the PPAO and Patong Municipality, the allocation will support the purchase of essential medical equipment to increase the hospital’s capacity to treat patients from Patong, elsewhere in Phuket and other areas, as well as tourists. The project is intended to improve public access to healthcare and support medical services in line with SPA: A Academy standards.

The two organisations said the support would help improve access to medical services and reduce treatment-capacity limitations as demand grows in Patong, one of Phuket’s main tourist destinations.

Rewat said public health was an important PPAO priority. He added that modern equipment and an efficient healthcare system would help build confidence among residents and visitors, and said the PPAO would continue working with public health agencies to improve healthcare services and quality of life in Phuket.

Patong Mayor Lalita Maneesri attended the ceremony, along with municipal officials, PPAO representatives, Patong Hospital medical staff, government officials, village health volunteers and members of the public.
