Russian man found dead in Kathu condominium

A 42-year-old Russian man was found dead in his room at The Scene Condo near Wat Ket Ho in Kathu, Phuket, police said.

Kathu Police were notified at about 8:48pm and attended the property with the Kathu district chief and forensic doctors from Vachira Phuket Hospital. The man was found lying face down beside the bed in the bedroom.

Police reported no signs of a struggle and said valuables remained in place. They also found many empty alcohol bottles in the room. A forensic doctor estimated that the man had been dead for about three days.

The body was taken by a Kusoldharm Phuket Foundation ambulance to Vachira Phuket Hospital for an autopsy to establish the cause of death. Police said the investigation would continue and that further action would follow the post-mortem examination.

The man’s name has not been released pending confirmation that his next of kin have been notified.
