A 29-year-old Russian man died after his motorcycle collided with a Mercedes-Benz on Chalermprakiat Rama 9 Road in Phuket on 5 November 2026. Police have not determined who was responsible for the crash.
Mueang Phuket police received a report at about 8.55pm and sent officers to the scene in Rassada district. The man, identified as Ilia Eid, was found lying on the road with multiple injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
His yellow Triumph motorcycle had sustained significant damage. A black Mercedes-Benz sedan at the scene had damage to its rear bumper. Police identified its driver as Phatcharin, a 45-year-old Thai woman.
The Phuket Times Facebook page reported that Eid had been travelling at high speed when he collided with the Mercedes-Benz as it was making a U-turn. KhaoSod reported that Phatcharin remained under police questioning and that investigators had not reached a conclusion on liability.
Social media users who said they lived in the area also alleged that the motorcyclist regularly travelled at high speeds and made excessive noise. Police have not confirmed those claims.
