Sirinat National Park visitor numbers fall 10%
Figures presented to the Sirinat National Park Advisory Committee showed a 10% fall in visitor numbers as officials reviewed park management and tourism services.
Visitor numbers at Phuket’s Sirinat National Park fell 10%, according to figures presented to the Sirinat National Park Advisory Committee on 17 September 2026.
The meeting, chaired by Natthaporn Rakbamrung, director of the Phuket Provincial Natural Resources and Environment Office, reviewed park revenue and tourism services including accommodation, meeting rooms and other visitor facilities. Natthaporn said tourism was expected to improve towards the end of the year.
The committee also reviewed rules under Sections 22 and 23 of the National Park Act covering research, nature studies, filming, maintenance of existing infrastructure and tourism activities.
Natthaporn said projects involving new uses of park land, including new construction, must undergo the required review and receive permission under relevant regulations. Infrastructure works such as roads, bridges, electricity systems, coastal structures and breakwaters must be assessed to determine whether they involve maintenance or improvement of existing structures, or new construction.
Management zones covering conservation, recreation, services, natural restoration and special activities were also reviewed. Projects must comply with the purpose and regulations of the relevant zone.
Natthaporn said drone operations inside Sirinat National Park require permission from the park chief and may take place only in designated areas under conditions intended to protect natural resources and avoid disturbing visitors. He said park management must balance conservation with appropriate public and tourist use.
