Sixteen disabled students receive Phuket scholarships

Sixteen students at the Phuket Provincial Special Education Center have received B10,000 scholarships each through the Thai Airspace Foundation’s programme for students with disabilities.

The awards were presented on Monday, 24 August 2026, by Danai Ounsrisong, director of the Phuket Air Traffic Control Center. The ceremony was attended by officials from the air traffic control centre and the special education centre, along with teachers, parents and recipients.

Sixteen students applied through the Phuket Air Traffic Control Center. The foundation initially selected 10 recipients, providing B100,000 in total. Employees and donors contributed a further B81,000, enabling six more students to receive B10,000 each. The remaining funds were given to the Phuket Provincial Special Education Center for future scholarship programmes.

The foundation expanded its programme to 178 scholarships for students with disabilities to mark Aerothai’s 78th anniversary. Of those scholarships, 88 are for students in Bangkok and surrounding areas, while 90 are for students served by regional air traffic control centres.

Established in 2006 as the Aeronautical Radio of Thailand Foundation, the organisation was renamed the Thai Airspace Foundation in 2015 and later recognised as a charitable organisation. It provides educational and development opportunities for underprivileged children.

Danai said the programme reflected Aerothai’s commitment to supporting society and children and young people with special needs. He thanked the Phuket Provincial Special Education Center for promoting the programme and assisting with applications and selection, and expressed support for the recipients’ parents.
