CCTV shows victim returning to road for dropped phone
CCTV footage circulating online shows Mr Atthachai had crossed the road with a group of friends before going back to the centre of the carriageway to retrieve a mobile phone that had been dropped.
The video shows one vehicle speeding past and narrowly missing him. A second car travelling behind at speed then hit him, with the impact throwing his body more than 10 metres from the point of collision.
Initial reports described the victim as a transgender woman, but police formally identified the deceased as Mr Atthachai.
Officers documented the crash scene, collected evidence and are continuing to review CCTV footage as part of the investigation. Further legal proceedings are continuing.
