Swedish murder suspect arrested in Bangkok after entering Thailand through Phuket

Thai immigration police arrested a Swedish murder suspect in Bangkok on 23 August after tracing him through previous stays on Koh Samui, authorities said. The man, identified only as Mr Kevin, had earlier entered Thailand through Phuket International Airport on 11 November 2025 with another Swedish national, identified as Mr Alex.

Immigration police said Kevin was later found to have entered Thailand again through Suvarnabhumi Airport on 17 May 2026. His permission to stay expired on 14 August, nine days before his arrest. Investigators said he had been moving between accommodation on Koh Samui and spending most of his time indoors.

Police arrested Kevin at a luxury condominium in Bangkok’s Rama 9 area after receiving a request from Swedish and Thai police divisions to locate him. He acknowledged that he was wanted under an arrest warrant issued in Sweden, police said. Officers found Alex in the same room. His permission to stay had expired 195 days earlier, according to immigration authorities.

Police said Alex had helped Kevin arrange accommodation and obtain food and other necessities. Alex was also wanted by Swedish authorities and had a criminal record involving receiving stolen goods and drug-related offences, immigration police said.

Officers seized three mobile phones and three credit cards, which they believed could assist Swedish investigators. Both men were transferred to Thai police for legal proceedings and will be deported to Sweden after the Thai process is completed, authorities said.
