Police are searching for a Swedish tourist after an alleged assault involving a hotel staff member at the Patong Platinum Hotel in Phuket on May 19, 2026. Authorities said the case began after the staff member filed a police report over the incident.
Footage recorded by an onlooker shows the foreign man leaving the hotel after an altercation and then confronting another man outside. The video appears to show the suspect slapping the man in the face before squaring up and walking away.
Video shows second confrontation and chase
The same footage shows the man return moments later and attack the victim again. He then ran across the road to the opposite side while another man chased after him.
Police are asking anyone who sees the suspect or has information about his whereabouts to contact 06-1175-5561. The appeal was issued after the complaint was formally lodged with investigators.
The reported assault has drawn attention because the confrontation was captured in public and shows multiple stages of the incident, from the initial slap to the second attack and the chase across the road. Authorities have identified the suspect only as a Swedish tourist and have not released further details.
