TAC inspects Phuket lion café after tourist bite report
Officials inspected a lion café in Chalong after reports that a Chinese tourist was bitten during the Chinese New Year period.
The Tourist Assistance Centre (TAC) inspected a lion café in Phuket’s Chalong district on Tuesday after social media reports that a Chinese tourist had been bitten by a lion.
TAC officers questioned staff about the incident amid concerns over tourist safety. The café said the visitor was bitten during the Chinese New Year period several months ago and suffered only a minor abrasion.
Staff said the lion involved was a small cub named Caesar and that all lions at the venue had been vaccinated. The café could not provide CCTV footage because the recording was no longer available.
