Teen rescued after Rawai sex trafficking raid at massage parlour

A 16-year-old girl was rescued in a Rawai sex trafficking raid on May 13 after Chalong Police investigated allegations that a massage parlour in Phuket was offering sexual services involving minors under the guise of treatments. Police said the business primarily targeted foreign customers, and two women were arrested during the operation.

Undercover sting uncovered alleged paid sexual services

Chalong Police said undercover officers were deployed in a sting operation after the investigation into the parlour’s activities. Officers alleged the owner, identified only as Ms May, solicited customers for “special massages” that concealed sexual services.

Investigators said customers were charged B1,500 per hour. Police alleged Ms May directed the 16-year-old and another masseuse, Ms Nid, 40, to provide sexual services to clients.

Suspects face trafficking and prostitution charges

Officers arrested Ms May and Ms Nid during the raid, police said. The teenager was placed into the victim identification process overseen by the Phuket Provincial Social Development and Human Security Office.

Police said Ms May faces six charges under the Human Trafficking Act and the Prevention and Suppression of Prostitution Act. Both suspects were handed over to investigators at Chalong Police Station for further legal proceedings.

Chalong Police also warned massage parlours and other entertainment and service businesses against exploiting anyone under 18 through prostitution or sexual exploitation. Police said offences under the Human Trafficking Act carry prison terms of six to 15 years and fines of B600,000 to B1.5 million, with some offences carrying possible life imprisonment.
