Teerapong Chuaychu elevated to Phuket deputy governor after provincial and coastal administration roles
Teerapong Chuaychu has been promoted to deputy governor of Phuket after serving in senior administrative roles in Koh Samui, Pak Phanang, Kathu and most recently as Phuket provincial clerk.
Teerapong Chuaychu has been promoted to deputy governor of Phuket, following a career in southern Thailand that included senior roles in tourism, coastal management and provincial administration.
The source says Teerapong, known locally as “Deputy Governor Kung,” is from Klai subdistrict in Tha Sala district of Nakhon Si Thammarat and built his career in administrative posts handling areas with complex economic, tourism and natural resource issues.
According to the report, his previous key postings included district chief of Koh Samui in Surat Thani, where he managed a major island tourism area during the Covid-19 crisis with a focus on public health confidence measures aimed at supporting economic recovery.
He also served as district chief of Pak Phanang in Nakhon Si Thammarat, where he drove a crackdown on illegal fishing gear and oversaw the removal of 155 sets of so-called “sai tua non” equipment as part of coastal ecosystem restoration efforts.
In Phuket, Teerapong served as district chief of Kathu, the district that includes Patong Beach, an entertainment hub. The report says he handled the public hearing process and regulatory measures linked to extending entertainment venue operating hours until 4 a.m.
He was later appointed Phuket provincial clerk under Interior Ministry Order 3483/2567 on Nov. 8, 2567, moving from the Kathu district chief post and beginning work on Nov. 18, 2567. In that role, the report says, he focused on city management, food waste and social measures.
The Interior Ministry has since ordered his promotion to deputy governor of Phuket. The report says Teerapong, accompanied by Wassana Chuaychu, vice president of the Phuket Red Cross chapter, paid respects at sacred sites at the new Phuket provincial hall and formally began work as deputy governor.
