Thai AirAsia to increase Phuket flights during high season

Thai AirAsia will increase its domestic network to as many as 135 flights a day from October to December, including additional services to Phuket during Thailand’s peak travel season.

The airline said the figure is more than 50% above its peak average of 88 flights a day in the third quarter. From 1 October, it will operate up to 15 flights a day between Bangkok’s Don Mueang Airport and Phuket, alongside five daily flights between Suvarnabhumi Airport and Phuket.

Thai AirAsia said the expansion follows recent service reductions linked to higher fuel prices and weaker travel demand. It expects domestic tourism to recover during the fourth quarter and into early 2027, alongside tourism stimulus measures being prepared by the Tourism Authority of Thailand.

Thai AirAsia chief executive Pairat Pornpatthananangkoon said the airline was increasing routes and frequencies to improve passenger convenience while maintaining its focus on safety and punctuality.

Phuket will also receive new direct connections with northeastern Thailand. From 25 October, Thai AirAsia plans to launch direct flights from Phuket to Khon Kaen, with up to three services a week, and Udon Thani, with up to four services a week.

The new routes will supplement the airline’s existing Phuket connections through Bangkok. Its fourth-quarter schedule also includes increased services from Bangkok to Chiang Mai, Hat Yai, Krabi, Khon Kaen, Udon Thani, Chiang Rai and Ubon Ratchathani.

Thai AirAsia will continue operating from both Bangkok airports, with Don Mueang as its main base and Suvarnabhumi providing direct connections to Phuket, Krabi and Chiang Mai.
