Thai Interior Ministry reassigns 2 Phuket deputy governors, effective June 16
Thailand's Interior Ministry has transferred two deputy governors out of Phuket and appointed two replacements, with the reshuffle taking effect on June 16, 2026.
Thailand's Interior Ministry has ordered the transfer of five provincial deputy governors, including two officials reassigned out of Phuket and two replacements moved into the province, with the changes taking effect on June 16, 2026.
According to Interior Ministry Order No. 1493/2569 dated June 15, 2026, all five officials were instructed to report to and begin work in their new posts on June 16.
The two deputy governors moved out of Phuket are Theeraphong Chuaychu, who was reassigned to Nakhon Si Thammarat as deputy governor, and Adul Chuthong, who was reassigned to Samut Sakhon in the same role.
Two deputy governors from other provinces were appointed to Phuket. Pol. Capt. Khettharat Chanyasin, previously deputy governor of Samut Sakhon, was transferred to Phuket. Romdon Haji-awae, previously deputy governor of Songkhla, was also reassigned to Phuket.
The wider reshuffle also included Wachiraporn Amatyakul, deputy governor of Nakhon Si Thammarat, who was moved to Samut Sakhon.
The source said the transfers came amid close attention on administrative changes in several important provinces, including Phuket, which it described as a key economic and tourism area. It also said the reshuffle followed a policy meeting at the Interior Ministry the same day that emphasized the suppression of influential figures, maintaining public order, and improving administrative efficiency, particularly in economically important and border provinces.
