Thai man, 51, found drowned in pond in Thalang
Police in Thalang said a 51-year-old man was found drowned in a pond in Srisoonthorn after going fishing on Friday evening and failing to return home.
A 51-year-old Thai man was found dead in a pond in Baan Lipon, Moo 2, Srisoonthorn, after Thalang Police were called to the scene at 7:53am following a report that a body had been discovered in the water.
Police and rescue workers found the body of Somyot Suksaeng in the pond, according to Thalang Police.
Relatives told police that Mr Somyot had no regular employment and supported himself by fishing. They said he regularly consumed alcohol, often had little appetite and suffered from recurring seizures.
Family members said Mr Somyot went fishing at the pond near his home at about 7pm on Friday evening, June 27, using hook-and-line gear, but did not return.
A doctor who carried out a preliminary examination at the scene said Mr Somyot was believed to have either fainted or suffered a seizure before falling into the water and drowning.
Police said there were no injuries or signs of a struggle on the body.
The body was taken to Vachira Phuket Hospital for a full post-mortem examination to confirm the exact cause of death.
