Prime Minister and Interior Minister Anutin Charnvirakul will inspect beach encroachment sites in Phuket on May 10, 2026, during a field mission along the island’s coastline. The visit will focus on public beach protection and enforcement of environmental law as the government reviews disputed coastal land use.
Inspection schedule covers Bang Tao and Freedom Beach
The first stop is Bang Tao Beach in Cherng Thalay, Thalang District, where Anutin is scheduled to inspect the area from 11:15am to 12:15pm.
Officials are set to review reports of illegal occupation and construction on the beachfront there, amid continued development pressure in one of the island’s busiest coastal areas.
The second inspection is planned for Freedom Beach in Karon, Mueang Phuket District, from 2:30pm to 3:30pm.
That visit will center on a recent encroachment crackdown in the area, where authorities have moved to reclaim public land and preserve access to the shoreline.
