Thai woman alleges group of foreign women attacked her outside Bangla Road bar

A Thai woman has alleged that a group of four or five foreign women attacked her outside a bar on Bangla Road in Patong, Phuket, at about 3am on 20 September.

The woman, who works for a tour company, gave her account to the Phuket Times Facebook page, according to a report published on 22 September. She said the women had been drinking at a nearby table with several foreign men and believed the group mistook her for a sex worker and accused her of trying to take their clients.

She alleged that the women waited outside the venue before punching her eight or nine times. She said she suffered wounds and bruising around her left eye and mouth, attempted to fight back, and saw the attackers flee shortly afterwards.

According to the report, she went to hospital for a medical certificate before filing a complaint with police. She asked officers to investigate the alleged assault and review security camera footage outside the venue to identify the suspects.

The women’s nationalities were not identified in the report, and no arrests had been reported by the time of publication.
