Thalang Hospital opens dialysis centre to expand kidney care
A new dialysis centre at Thalang Hospital has opened after a donation funded the renovation, equipment and water-treatment system needed to expand treatment for kidney patients.
Thalang Hospital has opened a new dialysis centre to expand treatment capacity for kidney patients in Thalang District and nearby areas.
The facility was officially opened during a merit-making and blessing ceremony held at the hospital this week. The ceremony included Buddhist merit-making in the morning and an Islamic religious ceremony later in the day.
Funding from the Kusoldharm Phuket Foundation supported the renovation of a fourth-floor ward into the dedicated centre, as well as the installation of a reverse-osmosis water-treatment system and the purchase of dialysis machines, patient beds and other standard medical equipment.
Hospital officials said the centre will reduce the need for patients to travel to other hospitals for dialysis and provide more convenient access to specialist care closer to home. They said the project was intended to accommodate the growing number of kidney patients requiring regular dialysis treatment.
Nephrologist Dr Niwat Saipetch said the haemodialysis centre and a new semi-critical care ward were established to increase the hospital’s ability to care for kidney patients and others requiring higher levels of medical attention.
Those attending the opening included Kusoldharm Phuket Foundation Chairman Lek Tantiwongpaisan, foundation committee members, hospital executives and medical staff, along with Thalang Hospital Director Dr Sakchai Na Wang-ang and Thalang Hospital Development Committee Vice Chairwoman Somjit Suthangakul. The hospital thanked the foundation, the development committee and other supporters whose donations made the project possible.
