Three arrested and more than 500 meth pills seized in Rawai crackdown

Police arrested three suspects and seized more than 500 methamphetamine pills and a firearm during a drug crackdown in Rawai, Phuket, on 15 October 2026.

The operation was led by Phuket Provincial Police Commander Pol Maj Gen Surachai Suksai and Chalong Police Station Superintendent Pol Col Surasak Jaidee, with local village heads and Rawai Subdistrict Municipality representatives. Police said the seized items and other evidence would be used in legal proceedings.

Authorities also installed additional CCTV cameras and deployed surveillance drones in the sea gypsy community to monitor the area and deter drug transactions. The operation included measures to address roadside parking and improve safety for residents and tourists.

Phuket MP Chalermpong Saengdee, who represents Phuket Constituency 2, said the crackdown followed complaints about drug activity in the community. He said he would pass public complaints to the relevant authorities and follow up on action, while calling for efforts to target drug-trafficking networks and prevent drugs from spreading among children and young people.

Police have not released the suspects' identities or further details of the charges.
