TMD warns of stormy seas south of Phuket
Thunderstorms are forecast across 60% of southern Thailand’s west coast from September 30 to October 1, with waves south of Phuket potentially exceeding 2 metres in storms.
The Thai Meteorological Department (TMD) has forecast thunderstorms across 60% of southern Thailand’s west coast from September 30 to October 1, with waves south of Phuket potentially exceeding 2 metres during storms.
The 24-hour forecast covers 6am on September 30, 2026, to 6am on October 1. From Phuket southwards, south-westerly winds are expected to reach 15–30km/h. Waves will be about 1 metre high but could exceed 2 metres in thunderstorms.
The TMD also forecast isolated heavy rain in Phang Nga, Krabi, Trang and Satun. From Phang Nga northwards, winds are expected to reach 15–35km/h, with waves of 1–2 metres and higher than 2 metres in thunderstorms. Mariners in the Andaman Sea were advised to avoid areas affected by thunderstorms.
