The woman told officers she requested to use the driver’s internet connection so she could contact a friend while in Phuket. Police arrested the driver following her complaint.
Arrest and Police Response
Officers took the van driver into custody after the tourist reported the assault. The arrest followed a formal complaint filed by the Ukrainian woman.
Police said the incident began when the woman sought assistance connecting to the internet. She told investigators the assault occurred after she approached the driver for help.
Authorities did not release the name of the suspect. The investigation is ongoing, police said.
