Truck overturns on Patong-Karon coastal road
A six-wheel truck carrying a small excavator rolled backwards and overturned on a steep section of the Patong-Karon coastal road, blocking the lane towards Karon.
A six-wheel truck carrying a small excavator rolled backwards and overturned on the Patong-Karon coastal road at about 11am on 27 August 2026, blocking the downhill lane towards Karon.
According to the initial police report, the truck was travelling towards Patong when it lost power while climbing a steep hill just north of Karon. The driver, Praphan Jai-Saen, was unable to regain control as the vehicle rolled backwards downhill.
The truck struck a roadside guardrail and a power pole before overturning. The excavator it was carrying also overturned and came to rest behind the truck.
No injuries were reported. Karon Police Station investigators attended the scene and contacted the relevant electricity authority and Inthara Insurance, which insures the truck. Police said further action would follow as the investigation proceeds.
