True Corp has upgraded its True5G network around Naka Market in Phuket ahead of a potential increase in mobile data use linked to local singer Nene Royal’s appearance in the quarter-finals of America’s Got Talent 2026.
Nene Royal, the stage name of 16-year-old Phuket singer Praew-Rattikarn Amloy, is scheduled to compete in the Live Shows – Quarterfinals on 25 August 2026, according to the report. True said fans could gather at Naka Market after her competition and return to Thailand, increasing demand for photo uploads, video sharing and live streaming in the area.
The company said it had upgraded base stations near Naka Market, increased network capacity and adjusted signal parameters to support large numbers of simultaneous users. The preparations also cover tourist areas, main routes and other major gathering points across Phuket.
True said performance improvements following its network modernisation programme included a 30% increase in 5G speeds and an 18% increase for 4G. It reported that 5G network congestion fell by 97%, while 4G congestion declined by 66%.
The company also said 5G signal strength increased by 16% and 4G signal strength by 23%. Capacity to handle traffic rose by 49% on 5G and 18% on 4G, it said.
True has established a 24-hour War Room at its Business Network Intelligence Center to monitor and manage network quality in real time. The company said it had continuously upgraded base stations and tested signal quality across Phuket, covering more than 300,000 kilometres cumulatively.
The network preparations form part of True’s support for Nene Royal under its “True to the World” programme. True Corp is the first official main sponsor of her trip to the United States for the competition, according to the report.
