Two Saudi tourists injured in jet-ski collision off Phuket’s Naka Island
A 35-year-old man and a 14-year-old girl suffered punctured lungs after two jet-skis collided off Naka Island on September 29.
Two Saudi Arabian tourists, including a 14-year-old girl, were injured when two jet-skis collided off Naka Island in Pa Khlok, Phuket, at about 5:50pm on September 29, police reported.
Police identified the injured pair as 35-year-old Saeed Abdullah S Al Sadiq and 14-year-old Areej Faisal A Aldeeifi. Al Sadiq suffered broken ribs and a punctured lung, while Aldeeifi also suffered a punctured lung, according to the report.
Both were submerged after falling into the water. Police said Al Sadiq was underwater for about three minutes and Aldeeifi for two to three minutes, but both remained conscious.
The tourists were part of a group of six staying at a resort in Kalim, on Phuket’s west coast. Police said the group had rented two jet-skis from JB Phuket Jet Ski at Naka Island. Al Sadiq and Aldeeifi were riding together when their jet-ski was struck by another ridden by their friend, Amal Dhahaei M Almatrafi.
The Pa Khlok Municipality rescue team took the injured tourists to Thalang Hospital. They were later transferred to Bangkok Hospital Siriroj for further treatment.
JB Phuket Jet Ski owner Thanakrit Duangchan reported the collision to Thalang Police. Police said the investigation was continuing.
