Unlicensed Teen Charged After Fatal BMW Crash in Chalong

A 19-year-old man has been charged after a fatal BMW crash in Chalong, Phuket, on April 28, 2026, left a transgender woman dead. Police said the teenager was driving without a valid license when the vehicle struck the victim, and the case is moving ahead through legal channels.

Traffic and criminal charges filed

Chalong Police told The Phuket Express the driver did not hold a valid license. He has already been fined under traffic laws for that offense.

Authorities have also filed a charge of reckless driving causing death. Police said the fatal crash case is proceeding through the legal process.

Insurance payout set at 1 million baht

The BMW involved in the crash was covered by both voluntary insurance and Thailand’s compulsory motor insurance scheme. Those policies provide an initial compensation payment to the victim’s family.

Officials said the family will receive 1 million baht under those provisions. Further claims for damages are being negotiated between the victim’s relatives and the driver’s representatives.
