A rented storage locker in Patong, Phuket, was found holding five guns and 100 rounds of ammunition on May 12 after the Swedish renter failed to pay for more than 120 days, police said. Staff at Mespace Self Storage Patong, inside Jungceylon shopping centre, alerted Patong Police after opening the unit under company procedures.
The locker was rented under the name Elmi Ahmed Mohamed, identified by company representatives as a Swedish national. Police were called to inspect locker No. 2184 on the second floor after staff found firearms and 9mm ammunition, which the company said violated its storage rules.
Police inventory found four Glocks, one CZ pistol
Investigators from Patong Police Station’s investigation unit examined the contents and counted four Glock 9mm pistols and one CZ pistol.
They also found two boxes of 9mm ammunition with 50 rounds in each box, bringing the total to 100 rounds. All items were seized for further examination.
Renter could not be contacted after overdue payments
Kirakorn Chiawchan, an authorised company representative, said the renter could no longer be reached after falling behind on fees for more than 120 days.
Initial police checks found the firearms were registered, but officers said the investigation must determine whether they were legally possessed before any further legal action. The Swedish renter had not been located when the case was reported.
