US aircraft carrier and 5,000 personnel scheduled to visit Phuket
Phuket authorities are preparing security arrangements for the USS George H.W. Bush and about 5,000 US Navy personnel from 4-9 October.
Phuket is preparing for a scheduled port call by the USS George H.W. Bush aircraft carrier and about 5,000 US Navy personnel from 4-9 October 2026.
Phuket city police chief Pol Col Chatree Chukaew discussed security and co-operation arrangements on Tuesday with Lu Pham and Robert Robinson, deputy assistant defence attachés at the US Embassy in Thailand.
The authorities discussed arrangements for the visiting sailors and advised US personnel to respect and comply with Thai laws during their stay.
The USS George H.W. Bush (CVN-77), which has about 4,800 personnel, will be accompanied by the USS Delbert D. Black (DDG-119), an Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer carrying about 320 personnel.
The carrier left Norfolk, Virginia, on 31 March 2026 and was deployed to the Arabian Sea to support operations in the US Central Command region during the conflict with Iran.
