Teen rescued in Rawai sex trafficking raid, two arrested
A 16-year-old girl was rescued in a Rawai massage parlour raid on May 13, and two suspects were arrested in a police operation targeting alleged sex trafficking involving a minor.
A 16-year-old girl was rescued and two suspects were arrested in a raid on a massage parlour in Rawai on May 13 following a police investigation into alleged sex trafficking involving a minor.
Chalong Police said the raid followed allegations that the parlour was offering sexual services involving minors under the guise of massage treatments and was primarily targeting foreign customers.
According to police, undercover officers carried out a sting operation and found that the parlour owner, identified only as Ms May, allegedly solicited customers for “special massages” concealing sexual services. Investigators said customers were charged B1,500 per hour.
Police alleged that Ms May instructed the 16-year-old girl and another masseuse, identified as Ms Nid, 40, to provide sexual services to clients.
During the operation, officers arrested Ms May and Ms Nid. The 16-year-old was rescued and placed into the victim identification process overseen by the Phuket Provincial Social Development and Human Security Office.
Chalong Police said Ms May faces six charges under the Human Trafficking Act and the Prevention and Suppression of Prostitution Act. Both suspects were handed over to investigators at Chalong Police Station for further legal proceedings.
Police also warned massage parlours and other entertainment and service businesses against exploiting children under 18, particularly through prostitution or sexual exploitation, which they said carries severe penalties under Thai law.
According to police, offences under the Human Trafficking Act are punishable by prison terms of six to 15 years and fines of B600,000 to B1.5 million, with some offences carrying possible life imprisonment.
