Wichit police seize 10 modified motorbikes in late-night crackdown

Police seized 10 motorbikes during a late-night checkpoint operation in Wichit on 12 August 2026, including vehicles fitted with loud exhaust systems and others allegedly modified for racing.

The operation took place at about 12:20am at a checkpoint in front of Wichit Municipality. Wichit police chief Pol Col Somsak Thongkliang ordered the patrol, which was led by Pol Lt Col Wutthiwat Liangboonjinda, Pol Lt Col Sawat Phol-on and Pol Lt Sunthon Phetsang. Moo 6 headman Kittithach Khuangla and community security officers also joined the operation.

Police said the patrol used flashing lights to help prevent groups of teenagers from gathering and motorbikes being ridden disruptively or used for illegal street racing. Officers prepared a seizure report and took the young riders and their guardians to Wichit Police Station for further legal proceedings.

Police also warned that parents or guardians could face legal action if children under 18 are allowed to leave home late at night without reasonable cause in circumstances that could put them at risk of committing offences or behaving inappropriately. Under the Child Protection Act 2003, the penalty can be up to three months in prison, a fine of up to B30,000, or both.

Police said the operation was intended to maintain public order, prevent disruptive riding and street racing, and reduce the impact on local residents and other road users.
