Woman arrested in Kathu over alleged pawning of rented cars
Police arrested a 31-year-old woman in Kathu after she allegedly rented vehicles and pawned them through online services, obtaining about B300,000.
A 31-year-old woman was arrested in Kathu on 22 September 2026 after allegedly renting cars and pawning them through online services without the owners’ permission, police said.
The Central Investigation Bureau’s Crime Suppression Division identified the suspect as Radawarin. She was wanted under warrants issued by the Phuket Provincial Court on 16 July and the North Bangkok Kwaeng Court on 1 July. The allegations include joint theft and joint forgery of documents.
According to police, Radawarin contacted car-rental companies through online pages, followed standard rental procedures, signed agreements and paid deposits to gain the owners’ trust. After receiving the vehicles, she allegedly pawned them through online car-pawning services.
Investigators said the method had been used at least twice, in Bangkok and Phuket, generating about B300,000. The rental companies later recovered both vehicles, while police continued searching for Radawarin before locating her at a condominium car park in Kathu.
She was handed over to investigators at Thalang Police Station for further legal proceedings. Police said she confessed during questioning and told investigators that serious cash-flow problems had prompted her to use the money to cover her finances. She was unable to redeem the vehicles before the deadlines, police said.
