Woman arrested in Patong drug sting with 5.19g of crystal meth, police say
Patong Police said a 43-year-old woman was arrested in a drug sting in Patong, with 5.19 grams of crystal meth seized and charges filed over sale, possession for sale and meth use.
A 43-year-old woman was arrested in Patong after police said they arranged a methamphetamine purchase as part of an ongoing crackdown on narcotics trafficking in Phuket.
The arrest was announced on June 8 by Patong Police and Kathu District officials. The suspect, identified only as Ms Kim, was apprehended at a room in Soi Manee Thong 1, near Ratchapatanusorn Road and about 200 metres from the Patong Municipality offices, according to police.
Police said officers seized 5.19 grams of crystal methamphetamine, a digital scale and a Redmi Note 10 mobile phone during the arrest.
A drug test conducted later at Patong Hospital returned positive for methamphetamine use, police said.
Ms Kim was charged with selling a Category 1 narcotic, possessing a Category 1 narcotic with intent to sell, and illegal consumption of methamphetamine. She was handed over to investigators at Patong Police Station for further legal action.
Authorities said the arrest forms part of a province-wide effort to suppress narcotics offences in Phuket.
Police also referred to another recent drug arrest in Phuket Town, where Mueang District officials last week detained a 44-year-old woman with 26.7 grams of crystal meth and 19 methamphetamine pills on Poonphol Road before searching her residence on Montri Road. She was later handed over to investigators at Phuket City Police Station and charged with selling and possessing for sale Category 1 narcotics, as well as illegal methamphetamine use.
