Woman attacked while jogging near Bang Wad Dam in Kathu
A local man says he helped a woman who was attacked while jogging near Bang Wad Dam in Kathu on 17 September and escorted other joggers from the area.
A woman was attacked while jogging near Bang Wad Dam in Kathu at about 7 p.m. on 17 September, according to local man Adisak Khaoraksa, 38, who went to help after hearing a call for assistance.
Adisak, also known as “James”, said he rode his motorcycle to the scene after a friend of the woman shouted for help. The attacker had fled by the time he arrived.
According to the woman’s account, the assailant emerged from a wooded area, punched her in the stomach and scratched her face, apparently intending to sexually assault her. She screamed after seeing someone who appeared to be a foreigner jogging nearby, and the attacker fled on a motorcycle when startled by the noise.
Adisak said he took the woman to a safer location before checking the relatively dark area around the dam. He warned other women who were still jogging there and escorted them out.
He also said the woman had been wearing a long-sleeved top and sportswear, and urged people not to criticise or bully victims over their clothing. Police are investigating the case.
