Woman dies after motorcycle is run over by truck at Heroines Monument
A 53-year-old woman died after her motorcycle was struck and run over by an 18-wheel trailer truck at Phuket’s Heroines Monument roundabout.
A 53-year-old woman died after her motorcycle was struck and run over by an 18-wheel trailer truck at the Heroines Monument roundabout in Thalang, Phuket, at about 8:30am on Thursday, 24 September 2026.
Thalang Police and medical personnel from Thalang Hospital attended the crash on the northbound lanes. The motorcycle rider had no pulse and was pronounced dead at the scene. Police identified her as Pawinee Bunkaew, 53, from Ratsada.
The truck driver was identified as Somsak Madsen, 37. In his initial statement to police, he said he was travelling from Ao Makham Port to Surat Thani Province when the motorcycle suddenly crossed in front of the truck. He said he was unable to brake in time.
According to the police report, the truck struck the motorcycle near its front passenger-side wheel before running over the rider. Police are examining evidence to establish the exact circumstances of the crash, and Mr Somsak was taken for questioning.
