Woman found dead on Patong walkway after suspected fall
Patong Police are investigating after a 38-year-old woman was found dead on a public walkway off Thaweewong Road, with initial inquiries indicating she may have fallen from a height.
A 38-year-old woman was found dead on a public walkway between buildings off Thaweewong Road in Patong on Tuesday morning, and police are investigating a suspected fall.
Patong Police were notified of the incident at 6:42am. Pol Lt Nonthawat Treekaew, deputy investigator at Patong Police Station, went to the scene with officers from Patong Hospital and rescue workers from the Kusoldharm Phuket Foundation.
The woman was later identified as Wasitthi Phanorach, 38, from Udon Thani Province. Police said she was wearing a white shirt and trousers and was found lying face down on the walkway.
Witnesses told police they saw the woman lying in the area and suspected she had died. The incident was reported through the 191 emergency hotline and the 1669 emergency medical service.
Initial investigations indicate the woman may have fallen from a height. Police said a damaged satellite dish belonging to a restaurant on a nearby building may be connected to the incident.
Officers cordoned off the area to preserve evidence while photographs and other forensic evidence were collected. Police said the exact cause of death has not yet been determined and the investigation is continuing.
