A woman was hospitalized after a delivery truck struck her inside a petrol station in Phuket at about 6:15 p.m. on Sunday, May 3. The collision happened at a station near a university, where she had been waiting beside a motorcycle parked for refueling, according to her boyfriend.
He told The Phuket Express that the box truck turned sharply as it entered the station, clipping the woman and knocking her to the ground. Witnesses said she appeared to lose consciousness briefly.
Boyfriend seeks medical compensation and police action
The driver got out and apologized, saying he had not seen her before the impact. Emergency responders took the woman to Vachira Phuket Hospital for treatment.
Doctors later diagnosed a concussion and ruptured capillaries. Her boyfriend said the injuries have caused ongoing dizziness, nausea and vomiting, and she remains under close medical observation.
He has filed a police report and is pressing for the driver, believed to have been operating a commercial delivery vehicle, to pay initial medical costs and provide long-term financial support for treatment. He said the full long-term effects of the injuries are still unknown.
