UPDATE: 28-year-old Irish man identified after body found in Phuket lagoon
Authorities identified 28-year-old Irish man Scott John Revie Little after his body was found floating in a Laguna lagoon in Cherng Talay; the exact cause of death remains under investigation.
A 28-year-old Irish man, identified as Scott John Revie Little, was found dead floating in a lagoon in Phuket’s Cherng Talay area on Thursday morning, 6 August 2026. The exact cause of death remains under investigation pending forensic results.
Police received a report at around 11am that the body of a foreign man had been found in the Laguna water reservoir in Moo 6, Cherng Talay.
Officers from Cherng Talay Police Station, accompanied by forensic investigators, a medical examiner and members of the Kusoldharm Foundation, recovered the body. It was brought ashore for an initial examination before being sent for autopsy.
Investigators are gathering evidence, interviewing witnesses and reviewing nearby CCTV footage to establish Mr Little’s final movements and the circumstances leading to his death.
An Instagram report said Mr Little had arrived at an apartment block on Wednesday night in a state of panic and severe intoxication. According to the report, witnesses said he fled towards the water while shouting for help after encountering a security guard at the complex.
The same report said blood was visible on his face, but there were no visible wounds or signs of assault. It also said investigators believed he had drowned at about 2am local time. That possible cause of death has not been confirmed and remains subject to forensic results.
Officials have notified the Irish Embassy in Bangkok to inform Mr Little’s family and assist with arrangements for repatriation and religious rites.
