The teenager’s family lost contact with him at about 3am on 4 October after he left his accommodation in Bang Tao to meet friends on Bangla Road in Patong. The Phuket Times Facebook page reported that he did not arrive and failed to respond to messages on Telegram.
His friends searched the accommodation, while his mother and older sister contacted Thai acquaintances for help. A missing-person poster was also shared on Thai social media.
The Phuket Times reported on 6 October that the teenager had been found unconscious in a Phuket hospital. He was reportedly travelling to meet his friends when the crash occurred.
Russian news agencies reported that he was the only survivor and was being treated in serious condition. The accident reportedly involved a local taxi and killed the other people involved, although further details were not available in the report.
The agencies also reported that the teenager had no personal documents with him, preventing medical staff and police from immediately contacting his family. He reportedly remained unconscious under the care of a Thai medical team.
