Airports of Thailand Plc and Vietnam Airlines have signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation ahead of a planned resumption of flights between Ho Chi Minh City and Phuket on July 2, 2026.

The agreement was signed on May 28, 2026, at the Kimpton Maa-Lai Bangkok hotel by Pavena Jariyatitipong, president of Airports of Thailand, and Le Hong Ha, chief executive of Vietnam Airlines. AOT executives, including deputy president for business development and marketing Sirote Duangrat, attended as witnesses.

According to the source report, the cooperation is intended to support flight operations and the development of aviation networks between AOT airports and Vietnam Airlines. The two sides also discussed the return of service on the Ho Chi Minh City (SGN)-Phuket (HKT) route, scheduled for July 2, as well as the possible opening of other routes in the future, which remain under consideration.

The report said the partnership is aimed at supporting the tourism market between Thailand and the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, which it described as continuing to expand. It also said the cooperation is intended to accommodate growth in air transport between the two countries.

The two sides additionally discussed the broader state of the aviation industry and travel trends between Thailand and Vietnam.

AOT said the cooperation with Vietnam Airlines marks another step in supporting the economy and tourism industries of both countries, including travel, trade and investment, while creating shared economic opportunities in the ASEAN region for sustainable future growth.
