Bangkok-Phuket route tops CAAT’s New Year 2027 full-service fare survey
CAAT says Bangkok-Phuket had the highest full-service fare levels among surveyed routes and advises travellers to book early for New Year 2027.
The Bangkok-Phuket route had the highest fare levels among full-service routes surveyed for New Year 2027 travel, according to the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT), which advised passengers to book early as cheaper seats are limited.
CAAT’s survey, based on fare data collected on 2 November 2026, covered eight domestic routes, including Bangkok-Phuket, and compared full-service carriers with low-cost carriers. Bangkok-Chiang Mai was the next-highest-priced route in the full-service survey. In the low-cost-carrier comparison, Bangkok-Phuket and Bangkok-Chiang Mai were also among the most expensive routes surveyed.
Across the six routes covered by both carrier categories, the average lowest fare recorded for full-service carriers was B3,566, compared with B2,532 for low-cost carriers. The full-service figure was 41.6% higher. Average highest fares were B5,028 for full-service carriers and B3,512 for low-cost carriers.
CAAT said lower-priced tickets remained available on some flights, but their numbers tend to decline as the travel date approaches. It recommended comparing fares across airlines and checking the total cost, including baggage, additional service fees and flight-change conditions, before buying.
The authority said it would continue monitoring domestic airfares to promote price transparency, fair competition and passenger-rights protection.
