Body of missing Myanmar fisherman found off Patong coast
Police in Patong are investigating after the body of a missing 30-year-old Myanmar fisherman was found floating off Paradise Beach on Tuesday evening.
The body of a missing Myanmar fisherman was found floating in the water off Paradise Beach in Patong on Tuesday evening, and police are continuing their investigation.
Police were notified of the discovery at about 5:45pm after people on a boat spotted the body and alerted rescue workers. Rescue workers then brought the body ashore.
At the scene, Patong Police investigator Lt Narind Bilson identified the deceased as 30-year-old Myanmar national Min Min.
Initial investigations found that Min Min had gone fishing near Coral Beach Pier at about 10am on Tuesday, June 2. He was later reported missing after he failed to return.
Police said the circumstances surrounding his disappearance remain unclear.
Patong Police and forensic doctors from Vachira Phuket Hospital carried out a preliminary examination at the scene, but the exact cause of death could not be determined.
The body was transferred to Vachira Phuket Hospital for a full autopsy. Police said further action will follow once the autopsy results are available.
