Calls have been made for an investigation after two foreign men were allegedly seen approaching tourists for money at Patong Beach in Patong, Kathu district, Phuket, over several days.
The complaint, reported on 6 August 2026 after being posted by the Phuket-based social media pageโหดจัง จังหวัดภูเก็ต, said the men wore white thobes, black taqiyah caps and black bags while speaking with tourists near the beach.
Some online commenters said they had previously seen the pair asking for donations, allegedly claiming the money would support schools in Pakistan. Those claims have not been independently confirmed.
An eyewitness quoted in the report said the men claimed they could not speak English when questioned, although the witness said they had earlier heard them speaking English with tourists. The witness also said the men left quickly after a phone was taken out to record them, and that tourists later described the interaction as a request for money.
Authorities have not confirmed whether the two men committed any offence. The report said the facts remained subject to official investigation.
