Central Land to spend B730M on Phuket, Pattaya retail projects

Central Land will invest at least B730 million in two tourism-market retail developments, including POP Phuket in Cherng Talay, with both projects scheduled to open by the end of 2026. The plan was set out in the company’s 2026 roadmap released on May 14, with Phuket and Pattaya identified as key shopping markets.

POP Phuket targets fast-growing Cherng Talay market

POP Phuket carries an investment of more than B300 million and a gross building area of 5,490 square meters. Central Land said the project is designed for Cherng Talay’s rapid growth, where more than 20,000 luxury residential units have been developed and annual growth has reached 18.8%.

The company said Phuket draws more than 14.1 million visitors a year and generates about B540 billion-B550 billion in tourism value annually. In west Cherng Talay, expatriates account for about 80% of residents, shaping demand for dining and lifestyle offerings.

More than 60% of POP Phuket will be allocated to food and beverage space, including restaurants, cafes and a Fine Food-format Tops supermarket, with Aquila, Campus Coffee Roasters and Spice House named as anchor brands. The remaining 40% will be used for premium retail and lifestyle services.

Central expects the project to attract more than 1 million visits a year, with an 80:20 split between foreign and Thai customers, and provide parking for more than 146 vehicles.

Pattaya project built with Centara partnership

Tops Wongamat will receive more than B430 million in investment and cover 4,711 square meters in Wongamat, a Pattaya area surrounded by four-star and five-star hotels and luxury condominiums. Chonburi records about 19 million to 22 million visitors a year and about B220 billion in tourism-related economic value.

The mall is being developed with Centara and sits at the site of Centara Grand Mirage Beach Resort Pattaya, which completed a major renovation before fully reopening in 2025 with 555 rooms, and Cosi Pattaya Wong Amat Beach, opened in 2022 with 282 rooms.

More than 80% of the single-storey open mall will be set aside for restaurants, cafes and a supermarket, with the remaining 20% reserved for curated premium shops and lifestyle services.
