Chabad Patong rejects claims Jewish New Year event was a baptism ritual
A Chabad Patong representative said a gathering in Patong was a traditional Jewish New Year observance and denied claims of a baptism ritual or hidden business activity.
Chabad Patong has rejected claims that a gathering at its premises in Patong was a baptism ritual, saying it was a traditional religious observance for the Jewish New Year.
The Chabad site on Rat-Uthit 200 Pi Road in Ban Khok Makham, Patong, Kathu district, was reported to be calm on 11 September 2026. No large crowd, police checkpoint or group of media was observed outside the building.
Motorcycles were seen entering and leaving intermittently, including vehicles resembling food-delivery motorcycles. About three to four foreign nationals were also seen resting inside the premises. No disturbance was reported.
A Chabad Patong representative strongly rejected negative reports, saying the gathering was a religious event held according to Jewish tradition and not a baptism or other purported activity. The representative also denied claims that the site was being used for an undisclosed business.
