Cherng Talay Police to install lane separators at crash locations
Police will install traffic separators at four Cherng Talay locations after recording repeated crashes linked to lane-crossing and straddling.
Cherng Talay Police will install traffic separators at four locations after recording repeated crashes linked to drivers crossing or straddling lanes, Police Chief Pol Col Ekkarat Plaiduang said.
Police recorded 11 crashes in front of Pasak Soi 8, nine in front of Pasak Soi 1 and seven near the PTT petrol station by Pasak Soi 7 during May.
The separators will cover a 150-metre section of Srisoonthorn Road in front of the PTT petrol station, a 120-metre section of the Baan Don-Cherng Talay Road near Pasak Soi 7, an 80-metre section of the same road in front of Pasak Soi 8, and a 100-metre section in front of Pasak Soi 1.
The road-safety initiative, called the “Save Life Cone” project, was officially launched on 27 July by Phuket Provincial Police Commander Pol Maj Gen Sinlert Sukhum at Cherng Talay Police Station. The Cherng Talay Tambon Administrative Organisation provided B300,000 to buy 500 traffic separators for high-risk locations across the subdistrict.
Pol Col Ekkarat urged motorists to obey traffic regulations, avoid overtaking across solid centre lines and stay within marked lanes.
The launch also introduced the “Cherngtalay Smart Beach’Cop 4.0” project, which will deploy remotely operated unmanned water-rescue devices at Surin Beach for swimmers in distress. Pol Maj Gen Sinlert said improving road and beach safety was essential to maintaining confidence among residents and tourists and supporting Phuket’s long-term tourism industry.
