Drug raids in Kathu and Thalang seize 1,061 meth pills
In Patong, Kathu District officials arrested two drug suspects during a raid conducted at about 10:30pm on Monday (May 11). Officers seized 375 ya bah pills and 16.06g of crystal meth.
Drug raids in Phuket on May 11-12 led to four arrests in Kathu and Thalang and the seizure of 1,061 ya bah pills along with crystal meth in three separate narcotics cases. The operations included a late-night raid in Patong, a district-level arrest in Srisoonthorn and a police arrest at a Patong hotel room, while Kathu Police also detained a man with a gun and one meth pill.
Patong district and police operations uncover meth and equipment
At about 10:30pm on Monday, May 11, Kathu District officials and personnel from Kathu District Volunteer Defence Corps Unit 2 arrested two suspects in Patong. Officers seized 375 ya bah pills and 16.06 grammes of crystal meth.
The pair were charged with selling and possessing Category 1 narcotics with intent to sell, and illegal consumption of methamphetamine. Both were handed over to investigators at Patong Police Station.
In a separate Patong case on May 12, Patong Police arrested a 29-year-old Phuket man identified as Mr Nan at a hotel room on Rat-U-Thit 200 Pi Rd. Police seized 426 ya bah pills, 21.73g of crystal meth, a digital scale, drug-taking equipment and an iPhone mobile phone.
The arrest was led by officers from Patong Police Station under the direction of acting Patong Police chief Pol Col Korakrit Khanthakrue and investigators led by Pol Lt Wirithphon Thibarat. Mr Nan was charged with selling and possessing Category 1 narcotics with intent to sell, and illegal consumption of methamphetamine.
Thalang arrest and Kathu weapons case
In Moo 6, Srisoonthorn, Thalang District officers arrested a suspected drug dealer on May 12. Officials seized 259 ya bah pills, 5.01g of crystal meth, a digital scale, packaging bags and drug paraphernalia.
The suspect, identified only as Mr A, was charged with selling Category 1 narcotics and illegal consumption of methamphetamine before being handed over to Thalang Police Station. Thalang District officials said the raid was part of Interior Ministry-ordered suppression efforts targeting drug trafficking, gambling, human trafficking and other crimes affecting public order.
Also on May 12, Kathu Police arrested a 43-year-old man identified as Mr Dam at a garbage collection parking area on Soi Chonprathan, off Wichit Songkhram Rd. Police seized a modified revolver, two .22-calibre bullets and one ya bah pill.
Mr Dam was charged with illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition, carrying a firearm in a public place without permission, and possession of a Category 1 narcotic for personal use. All suspects remain in police custody pending further legal proceedings.
