Police arrested an Estonian tourist after a hotel room rampage at Patong Canal Villa Hotel in Phuket on May 8. Officers responding to reports of a violently behaving guest found 41-year-old Mr Uusaed Maykl in a room with extensive property damage, officials said.
Police said the man was heavily intoxicated and could not speak coherently when a patrol team tried to calm the situation. The disturbance also disrupted hotel staff and other people staying at the villa.
Police say suspect remains in custody as damage case proceeds
Hotel staff told officers the man often got into physical altercations with his male Estonian companion. Pol Lt Col Rapeeporn Chumtham coordinated the response after officers found belongings inside the room had been destroyed.
Police then took the suspect and hotel staff to Patong Police Station to meet an investigating officer over the incident. Authorities said legal action would follow and compensation for the damage to the premises would also be addressed.
The Estonian national remains in custody while the investigation into the destruction of property continues.
