Flooding disrupts travel across three Phuket districts
Heavy rain on 25 October flooded roads in Thalang, Mueang Phuket and Kathu, making part of Thepkrasattri Road impassable to small vehicles.
Heavy rain disrupted traffic in three Phuket districts on Sunday, 25 October, with a section of Thepkrasattri Road becoming impassable to small vehicles, Nation Thailand reported.
The affected districts were Thalang, Mueang Phuket and Kathu. On the outbound side of Thepkrasattri Road outside the Thai Watsadu store in Si Sunthon, Thalang, floodwater covered the road and prevented small vehicles from passing. Motorists were advised to avoid the section and use alternative routes.
Flooding was also reported at Pa Sak Soi 4/1 in Choeng Thale, low-lying areas of Rawai, the Ha Yaek–Na Bon area outside Wat Tai in Chalong, and the outbound carriageway of Phra Phuket Kaew Road in Kathu.
The Thai Meteorological Department issued its fourth weather advisory at 5am on Sunday, warning that heavy to very heavy rain could continue in southern Thailand from 25 to 28 October. The warning includes Andaman coast provinces such as Phuket, Phang Nga and Krabi.
The department said accumulated rainfall could trigger flash floods and rapid run-off, particularly in foothill areas, communities near waterways and other low-lying locations.
Residents and motorists were advised to monitor official weather and road-condition updates. Drivers were also warned not to attempt to cross flooded roads when the depth could not be assessed or where water was flowing strongly.
