Phuket trains frontline staff ahead of InterPride 2026 conference
Phuket has launched training for frontline workers ahead of the InterPride General Meeting & World Conference 2026, while officials link the event to ambitions for a WorldPride 2030 bid.
Phuket has begun training frontline workers ahead of the InterPride General Meeting & World Conference 2026, which is scheduled to begin on 29 October and will be held in Asia for the first time.
The training programme was launched on 21 October at Duangjitt Resort & Spa in Patong, with Vice Governor Romdon Hayiawae presiding on behalf of Phuket Governor Chotinarin Kerdsom.
Participants include representatives from the Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau, the Andaman Power Phuket Association, government agencies, private businesses, educational institutions and other sectors involved in receiving international visitors.
The programme is designed to improve participants’ ability to work with people from diverse cultural backgrounds and provide services that meet international expectations. It places particular emphasis on creating a safe and inclusive environment for conference delegates.
Experts from TransTalents Consulting Group and Dusit Thani College are delivering the training, which includes simulated situations intended to help participants apply the lessons in their daily work. The programme covers workers in government offices, immigration, hospitality, retail, volunteering and event organisation.
Mr Romdon said Thailand’s selection to host the conference in Phuket reflected cooperation between government agencies, private businesses and civil society. He described the event as an opportunity to strengthen Phuket’s position as an international destination for meetings and conferences, as well as inclusive tourism.
Organisers said the experience of international delegates would depend not only on venues and event facilities, but also on the people they encounter during their stay.
The initiative is also intended to support Thailand’s ambitions to host other major international events, including a bid to host WorldPride 2030. The InterPride conference is a global gathering associated with InterPride, the international organisation representing Pride organisers.
